The work, duties and powers of the Department shall be as follows:-
(a) To conduct transport services in an organized and effective manner, to conduct studies and research on the financial and technical aspects thereof, or to determine the necessary policies related thereto.
(B) To give necessary instructions to persons, firms, companies or organizations related to transport services for the order and development of transport.
(c) To set the priority of transportation of goods according to the need and instruct the person, firm, company or organization related to transport service to transport the goods according to that priority.
(d) Determine the route according to the needs of the passenger traffic to operate the transport service and determine the fare of the public vehicles running on that route.
(e) Arrange for placing traffic signals in public places in accordance with international practice.
(f) Determining the speed, weight and number of passengers to be carried in the vehicle.
(G) To prepare and determine the necessary criteria regarding the examination of the mechanical condition and appearance of the vehicle.
(h) To determine the subject and examination system to be taken with the drivers.
(i) Carry out other necessary actions for the strengthening of transport services.
